Unmissable!A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE ARK OF WATER GARDEN:The Arca D’Água Garden where underneath you hides a large Ark full of secrets and pieces of the city’s history, is situated in a noble area, very close to the city center of Porto, next to the University Pole of St. John, almost leaning against the VCI through which it can be easily accessed.Arca D’Água reminds us of the time when, from this site, the aqueduct or spring of Paranhos or spring of the Three Fountains of Paranhos (various designations used), in the background, from this large “water box”, were built granite pipes, which from the seventeenth century were going to feed a whole network of fountains and fountains of water distribution throughout the city, until the end of the nineteenth century. It was also in this same space, which was almost a desert in the mid-nineteenth century, that on February 6, 1866, the duel between the poet Antero de Quental and the writer Ramalho Ortigão was fought because of the Coimbrã Question. This duel would result in an injury to Ramalho’s arm.But once again, Arca D’Água is not the official denomination. They moved this old toponym to April 9th. in order to evoke the terrible fight of 1833, between the absolutists (loyal to D. Miguel) entrenched at the top of the Covelo and the liberals (D. Pedro).Other scholars of Porto toponymy, argue that this name “April 9”, evokes the battle of La Lys (of the first world war) in which many Portuguese participated. But whatever war it is, in fact the Portoenses know this space by “Jardim de Arca D’Água”.The garden was designed by Jerónimo Monteiro da Costa and was inaugurated in 1928 and is therefore 9 years away from celebrating one hundred years. The great trees, magnolias and cedars, the lake and the grotto, the bandstand and the sculpture “The family” by Cherters de Almeida (1971) stand out.FINISHESFaçade: Hand-painted tiles, keeping the original moth.Beaded: Granite (windows and main door)Window frames: Aluminum (painted in black)Railing balconies: In iron (painted in black) / GlassBalcony floor: GraniteGlazing: Double / Thermal, tippersMain portal: Iron (painted in black)Staircase: Granite with iron handrail (painted in black)Main doors of the houses: Armored with security locksDoors inside the houses: Lacadas, white in colorKitchen cabinets: Lacquered, white in colorKitchens: Fully equippedCabinets/Wardrobes: Melamine, white in colorSanitary ware: ROCALighting: LEDS (built-in foci)Insulation: Thermal/acousticHeating system: AIR ConditioningCarpentry in the dwellings: Floors, staircases and ceilings of the (duplex/Triplex), in Tauari(classic wood, durable, full of refinement and comfort, light colorBank Financing:Habita is a partner of several financial entities enabling all its customers free simulations of Housing Credit.
